Pressure Equipment Directive Certification

The Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) 2014/68/EU is a European regulatory framework that governs the design, manufacture, conformity assessment, and safe operation of pressure equipment and assemblies with a maximum allowable pressure greater than 0.5 bar. PED certification is mandatory for pressure equipment placed on or used within the European Union and European Economic Area (EEA).

PED applies to a wide range of equipment, including pressure vessels, boilers, heat exchangers, piping systems, safety valves, and pressure accessories, across industries such as oil & gas, power generation, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, food processing, and manufacturing.

The certification process involves classification of equipment into categories, assessment of design and materials, evaluation of manufacturing processes, inspection and testing, and verification by a Notified Body (where applicable). Successful certification allows manufacturers to apply the CE marking, confirming that the equipment meets essential safety requirements.

PED certification ensures that pressure equipment is designed and manufactured to prevent risks such as overpressure, rupture, leakage, and explosion, protecting people, property, and the environment.

Benefits
